Magda Stanova | In the Shadow of Photography

In the Shadow of Photography showcased a visual essay by Slovakian-born Magda Stanová which reflected on how photography changes our social behaviour. Combining humour and philosophy, Stanová’s exhibition considered questions such as why photography causes stage fight and why photographs are rectangular when camera lens are circular. The exhibition included photographs, collages, drawing and video and was accompanied by the artist’s hand-written texts on the gallery walls.

In the Shadow of Photography was originally curated as part of Talent Latent for SCAN ’08, the Tarragona photography festival, by Barcelona-based curator, Marta Dahó.
